Rivers and creeks by Newton Ferrers
River Yealm and Estuary. The River Yealm rises on Dartmoor's south moor on remote and boggy terrain. It flow down the flank of the moor on its way to the coast between Wembury and Newton Ferrers/Noss Mayo. Where estuary meets sea is extraordinarily beautiful with 'secret' beaches and coastal paths.
Newton Creek and the Voss. Newton Creek runs east of the River Yealm and Estuary. The Voss is a tidal causeway at Newton Creek.
Noss Creek and the Voss. Noss Creek is a smaller waterway running off Newton Creek. Again, you can cross this on a tidal causeway called the Voss.
Newton Ferrers ferry/water taxi
Warren Point, Wide Slip and Yealm Steps Ferry/Water Taxi. The River Yealm and Estuary is a formidable barrier between Wembury, Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. A seasonal ferry provides access to these three destinations although it involves a bit of walking from the ferry/water taxi landing points.
