If you're exploring Totnes on foot, start at the River Dart/Bridgetown in the centre of town. A road climbs from the River Dart/Bridgetown in the direction of Totnes Castle (English Heritage) and then arcs into the historic Narrows.
The lower section of this road is Fore Street. The middle section is High Street. The upper section is the Narrows. The upper section is lined with cool indpendent shops and places to eat and drink. It also provides a super view of Totnes Castle (English Heritage) rising above the pretty building.
