Slapton Sands (Beach), Torcross, South Devon
Huge shingle beach lining Start Bay
Slapton Sands (Beach) is a huge, narrow shingle beach running along the centre of Start Bay. It's within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Behind the beach are Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve and the Torcross Sherman Tank. The South West Coast Path runs along the coastline.
We'd recommend walking the South West Coast Path south to Bee Sands (Beach) and Hall Sands (Beach). You'll see Start Point and Start Point Lighthouse to the south east.
To the north of Slapton Sands (Beach) is the exceptionally popular Blackpool Sands (Beach).
Major destinations in the area include Dartmouth and Salcombe. Also explore the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary.
