If you like coastal walking then a yomp to Bolt Head is a must. The location is stunning and views immense.
Location of Bolt Head
Bolt Head is almost as far south as you can go in South Devon. Situated on the west side of the mouth of the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary, it's across the sea from Prawle Point.

Directions to Bolt Head
If you want to walk to Bolt Head from the Salcombe direction, we'd recommend taking the South Sands Sea Tractor/Taxi from the pontoon at Whitestrand Quay in the centre of town. The taxi boat delivers you to a sea tractor that takes you onto South Sands (Beach). You can then walk the South West Coast Path around the side of Sharp Tor (Salcombe) to Starehole Bay and then Bolt Head.
Alternatively, park by Soar Mill Cove Hotel (charges apply and pay in the hotel) and wander down to Soar Mill Cove (Beach). Walk east of the South West Coast Path to Bolt Head.

Things to do near Bolt Head
There's great walking westwards on the South West Coast Path past Soar Mill Cove (Beach) and Bolberry Down to Bolt Tail. You then drop down to Hope Cove. Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea are further west.
To the north, follow the curve of Starehole Bay to Sharp Tor (Salcombe). From here, there are glorious views of the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary.
In the local area, visit Overbeck's Garden and Museum (National Trust) and South Sands (Beach). Take the South Sands Sea Tractor/Taxi into Salcombe.
