Plymouth Sutton Harbour, Plymouth, South Devon

One of the best visitor destinations in South West England

Sutton Harbour is up there with the best visitor destinations in South West England.

In addition to one of the region's top attractions in the Plymouth National Marine Aquarium, the harbour is steeped in history. The Pilgrim Fathers sailed from here to America in 1620. Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Francis Drake, Sir John Hawkins, Captain Cook and Charles Darwin have wandered the cobbled streets. The Elizabethan House, Plymouth Gin and Plymouth The Royal Citadel are part of its story.

Today, it's marina is surrounded by pubs, restaurants and shops. Boat trips and ferries depart from and return to its water. In short, it's essential UK visiting.

The Mayflower Visitor Centre provides a great introduction to Sutton Harbour. We'd recommend starting there.
