Dartmouth Higher Ferry is the main River Dart crossing point for vehicles. It's at the north end of town by the Dart Marina Yacht Harbour and connects sections of the A379.
The River Dart is a formidable barrier between The English Riviera and the popular South Devon holiday beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, Bantham, the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary and Start Bay area. You can either drive to Totnes and cross the river or use one of the ferries in Dartmouth. Most people take Dartmouth Higher Ferry at the north end of Dartmouth on the A379.
