Dartmouth Castle Ferry, Dartmouth, South Devon

Dartmouth Castle Ferry, Dartmouth, South Devon

Ferry running between the centre of Dartmouth and Dartmouth Castle

A foot passenger ferry runs from the centre of Dartmouth to Dartmouth Castle (English Heritage). Head down to the steps on the embankment south of the pontoon by Dartmouth Harbour.

The ferry takes you to a landing place below St Petrox Church on the north side of Dartmouth Castle (Enlgish Heritage). You then wander up a path to the entrance by Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms.

It's a great approach to the castle and one of the best ways to experience both Dartmouth and Kingswear.

If you're into walking, we'd very much recommend following the South West Coast Path back to town. You loop around Warfleet and then walk on high ground above the River Dart and Estuary. The views of Dartmouth, the water and Kingswear are sensational.
