Small beach at Wembury Point

There's a small beach at Wembury Point west of Wembury Beach and Wembury Marine Centre.

When visiting, you'll notice the remains of a wall which appears to be have been one of the many sea pools* that you find in South West England. When the tide rises, the pool fills with sea water. The tide then goes out, the sun warms the water and you have an outdoor swimming pool! We've seen them at Bude Summerleaze Sea Pool and Pudcombe Cove, for example.

Make sure you follow the South West Coast Path west of Wembury Point Beach for great views across Plymouth Sound to Cornwall at Rame Head. The walk east on the South West Coast Path past Langdon Beach to Wembury Beach is also superb.

The huge rock out at sea is the Great Mew Stone.

Location of Wembury Point Beach

We've positioned the beach on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its exact location. Note that Wembury Point Beach is not marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL20 'South Devon' map.

*If you have alternative explanations for this ruined sea wall then we'd love to hear from you.
