Thatcher Point and Thatcher Rock (viewpoint over Tor Bay), Torquay, South Devon

Much photographed viewing point in The English Riviera

Thatcher Rock is a small island off the northern coast of Tor Bay in The English Riviera. It's close to Hope's Nose, Thatcher Point and Meadfoot Beach.

Whilst it's visible for miles around, we'd suggest you follow the South West Coast Path east of Meadfoot Beach to see Thatcher Rock. Thatcher Point provides a great natural viewing platform. If you have time, continue to Hope's Nose and then Anstey's Cove before looping back round past the Kents Cavern area to the stretch of coast where you started. On sunny days, the views are extraordinary.

Thatcher Rock is part of The English Riviera Geopark. Of geological interest is Thatcher Rock's raised beach.

Across Tor Bay you'll see Berry Head Forts near Brixham Breakwater and Lighthouse.
