The English Riviera Geopark was the world's first urban Geopark. It's exceptionally beautiful and fascinating and within one of the UK's hottest tourist destinations.
A Geopark is a territory with an internationally important geological and cultural heritage. The English Riviera Geopark is a territory of international geological importance around The English Riviera covering 400 million years of geological history. It was declared a Geopark in September 2007.
Rare geological and cultural heritage sites
The English Riviera Geopark is one of only fifty or so Geoparks in the world. Others in the UK include North Pennines AONB European Geopark, North West Highlands Geopark, Fforest Fawr Geopark, Lochaber Geopark and Geo Mon (Anglesey).
