Blackpool Sands (Beach), Torcross, South Devon

One of Devon's most popular family beaches

Blackpool Sands is one of Devon's most popular family beaches. Dartmouth is to the north east and Torcross to the south west. Also to the south west are Salcombe and Kingsbridge on the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary.

Blackpool Sands is a shingle beach (ie, very small pebbles) with a shop, refreshments, toilets and showers. There's a charge to park. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach.

The South West Coast Path runs behind Blackpool Sands. Note that the 'classic view' of this beach is from the hill to the west. Follow the South West Coast Path in this direction and look back down at the beach. When the light is right, the view is stunning.

There are lots of quality beaches in the area. Try the vast stretch of shingle beach at Slapton Sands (Beach). Others we'd recommend include Bee Sands (Beach), Thurlestone Sands/South Milton Sands (Beach), Bantham Beach and Dunes and Bigbury-on-Sea Beach.
