Breathtaking National Trust coastline

The coastline west of the Salcombe Kingsbrigde Estuary is wild and beautiful. Arguably the most impressive section is Bolberry Down. It's high ground above the sea so the views are huge.

The hamlet Bolberry is situated between Hope Cove and Salcombe in the South Devon countryside. Bolberry Down is south of the hamlet.

Directions and parking for Bolberry Down

Head for either Salcombe or Hope Cove and then take one of the skinny coastal roads to Bolberry. Drive south out of Bolberry and you'll come to National Trust land. There's a large parking area at Bolberry Down.

 

Bolberry Down

Visit to see WWII radar, bronze age boundary stones, high cliffs and thick gorse yellow in spring.

We'd recommend walking the South West Coast Path in both directions from Bolberry Down. Head east and you come to the idyllic, sandy cove at Soar Mill Cove (Beach). Head east and you come to Bolt Tail with glorious views of Hope Cove and Bigbury Bay. You'll also see Dartmoor National Park in the distance.

West of Bolberry Down, visit Hope Cove.
