Secluded beach near East Prawle on the South Devon coast

Horseley Cove (others spell it Horsley Cove) is one of a number of beaches between Prawle Point and Start Point on the southern coast of the South Devon.

South Devon is famous for its beaches. The most popular get very crowded during peak holiday periods. If you want to avoid the crowds then there are stretches of coastline that are relatively undervisited. The Prawle Point to Start Point area is a great example. It's lined with secluded, 'secret' beaches. Horseley Cove is one of the best.

 

Location of Horseley Cove

Devon's southernmost village, East Prawle' is located between the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary and Start Point. Horseley Cove is just south east of the village.

Directions and parking for Horseley Cove

To visit, we'd recommend starting from East Prawle. Follow one of the roads south out of the village and you'll connect with paths that take you to the South West Coast Path. Horseley Cove is now in front of you. Refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL20 'South Devon' map for detail.

Alternatively, head for the small car park by Prawle Point that's clearly visible on Google's satellite imagery. Follow the South West Coast Path east and you'll come to Horseley Cove.

At low tide, Horseley Cove is a long stretch of beach below rolling countryside. There's a path that leads down to Horseley Cove.

Visit the Pigs Nose Inn in East Prawle.

Note that Salcombe and the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary are to the north west.

Torcross and Slapton Sands are to the north east.
