Discovering Plymouth on foot

One of the best ways to discover Plymouth is on foot. It's a reasonably small city that's easy to walk around. Like Exeter, it has a number of trails you can follow with information boards that tell the story of the city. These include The Barbican Trail and The Coxside Trail.

Location of Plymouth Trails

To follow The Barbican Trail, we'd recommend starting in New Street by the Elizabethan Gardens. The trail runs between the Elizabethan Gardens, Garrison Steps, Johnny Walker, Plymouth Gin, Robert Lenkiewicz, The Parade, Cap'n Jaspers, West Pier, Castle Street and Island House information boards. Each board provides location points.

For The Coxside Trail, head for the National Marine Aquarium. The trail runs between the Lockyer's Quay, Queen Ann Battery, Deadman's Bay, Cattedown Man and Vue information boards. Each board provides location points.
