Beaches lining Plymouth Sound and the South Devon and East Cornwall coastlines

People often search for information on beaches in and around Plymouth. There are a number of small beaches on the Plymouth foreshore. Larger beaches line Plymouth Sound. Some of the best local beaches are a little further away at the mouth of Plymouth Sound on the South Devon and East Cornwall coastlines. We list these below.

 

Plymouth Beaches

Try the area below Plymouth Hoe Park and the coastal fringe of Plymouth Devil's Point Park.

You can also take the Cremyll/Plymouth Ferry to enjoy the beaches that line Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

Alternatively, take the water taxi from the Plymouth Barbican area across to Batten Bay Beach.

 

South Devon Beaches

Jennycliff Bay Beach. Lovely beach below Jennycliff and Jennycliff Car Park. Take the water taxi from Plymouth Barbican to Mount Batten and follow the South West Coast Path to Jennycliff.

Bovisand Bay Beach. Popular holiday beach near the mouth of Plymouth Sound.

Wembury Beach. National Trust beach on the South Devon coast.

 

East Cornwall Beaches

Cremyll Beach and Mount Edgcumbe Country Park beaches. Take the Cremyll/Plymouth Ferry to enjoy the beaches that line Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

Cawsand Beach. Very pretty sand beach. Take the ferry from Plymouth Barbican.

Whitsand Bay. One of the Westcountry's great stretches of sand. Given its size, this huge arc of sand is divided into separate beaches.
