Lower floor

Once you're in the museum, 'your journey through time starts' 400 million years ago. Watch the film that loops on a large screen. It's a great introduction to Devon's geology and formation in deep time. From there, you are guided through millennia of human history with an emphasis on Exeter. You'll move from prehistory to the Roman period, medieval life to modern times.

Upper floor

Head up the impressive double stairs to the upper floor which houses collections covering 'World Cultures' and 'Ancient Worlds'. There's also an impressive section hosting natural collections. Kids love the elephant and giraffe!

Temporary exhibitions

Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) also has a number of temporary exhibition spaces.

Shop and cafe

Once you've explored the museum, head for the excellent museum shop and then grab a drink and bite to eat in the cafe.
