Tor Bay arcs from Hope's Nose and Thatcher's Rock in the north down to Berry Head in the south. The views from Berry Head Hotel, day and night, are sensational.

Boat trips

You'll see ferries and tourist boats crossing the bay or heading around Berry Head. Take trips to Torquay and Dartmouth. Enjoy specialist evening or wildlife cruises.

Brixham Harbour

Wander down to The Breakwater and Marina and continue to the Inner Harbour. It's lined with restaurants, pubs and cafes. Try seafood at Rockfish.

Whilst you're at the Inner Harbour, visit the Golden Hind

Sir Francis Drake circumnavigates the world in this ship. It's tiny. Note that you can visit Drake's home Buckland Abbey which is now managed by the National Trust.

Beaches

On your way down to the Inner Harbour, you'll pass Breakwater Beach. In the local area, we'd recommend trips to Broadsands Beach and Goodrington Sands to the north west and Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands to the south west.

Watersports

Dependent on the time of year, you'll probably see stand up paddle boarding or kayaking in the sea as you wander from the hotel into Brixham. Try Grenville House Outdoor Education Centre or Broadsands Beach Watersports Centre. If you're willing to travel, drive to Bantham Beach and Bigbury-on-Sea Beach.

Shoalstone Pool

You can swim in the sea at Breakwater Beach or try Shoalstone Pool near the hotel. There's a super cafe. Top views as well.

South West Coast Path

Berry Head Hotel sits on the South West Coast Path. Follow the path around the coast to Paignton and Torquay and return on the ferry. Alternatively, yomp up to Berry Head.

Berry Head

Extraordinary place. National Nature Reserve, Fort and Country Park. Immense views, bird hides and another top cafe.

The English Riviera

Brixham is part of The English Riviera. Once you're explored Brixham, move on to Paignton, Torquay and Babbacombe.
